This is a destination ryokan. Wonderful, sincere, kind and well-trained staff. The onsen in the suite is huge and wondrous (at 6'1", I could stretch myself out completely, albeit diagonally). Navigating the stairs are a bit of a challenge if you do not travel as light as the Japanese. The suite is enormous but there is a large tatami room for two adults to sleep w/ futon that is useless if you travel as a couple. However, the highlight are the meals. You absolutely must purchase the breakfast and dinner! It is fabulous!!! Reservations are required because you are served in your own "room" (just you and your party). The food is fantastic in every sense of the word. They try to include farm-to-table as well (the local small farmed rice was the absolute bomb).

Magical place. Exceptional service and hospitality from staff. The onsens were relaxing and beautiful. We loved the private bath to enjoy as a family. The room was immaculate and the view amazing. 10 out of 10!

Serene and silent environment, beautiful and comfortable accommodation. The staff was very welcoming, eager to help and clarify everything and provided a very good service. Everything is organized to be convenient and comfortable for guests, so they can relax and enjoy. Traditional breakfast served in the morning was delicious and full of new things to try. I also enjoyed the ryokan's onsen a lot!

Very clean when we arrived. The staff was kind to arrange some more pots and pans when we requested and was also kind to arrange taxi on the day of check out. Yunokawa onsen tram stop is within 8 min walking distance to take downtown. There are departmental stores znd convenience stores nearby.

The hotel was clean and beautiful. We wanted to experience traditional Japanese-style logging. Shinyotei was wonderful and far exceeded our expectations.
