Really traditional ryokan with a nice onsen for private use, good traditional food, nice staff and located close to 2 bus stations. Also there is a family mart which is really good if you forgot to book dinner :)

We arrived by bus and the bus stop is just outside so very convenient. Although the bus from ... was really crowded. Get to the bus early to get a seat because it’s a 1-hour ride and our bus was crammed full of people. It goes every half hour so if the first is full get the next.
The hotel has a beautiful Japanese garden out front. I mean so beautiful! With a carp pond and a small bamboo grove. The sakura was blooming and it was magical.
The hotel main building was nice and felt calm and understatedly luxurious, if a little dated. The staff was very attentive when we arrived and helped us with everything. There is a pervasive smell of sulphur but that is to be expected for the area and can't really be helped. It didn't bother us.
We stayed in a traditional room with a private open air onsen. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. I think it was in the older part of the building, so the bathroom was a little dated but again, it was still lovely. And it provided all amenities we could need. I'd have loved to have seen the new buildings though and if I go again, I’d make sure to book one of them with private onsen. But for our part the room was lovely and large and the private onsen was amazing, looking over the little garden.
We had our kaiseki dinner served in the room from a kind lady. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast was also served in the room, and was again beautifully presented and a traditional Japanese breakfast.
The open onsens (non private) we're nice, although you have to walk between the indoor and open air onsen. So, you have to leave the indoor one and walk further down the corridor to find the open-air ones. But the private onsen in the room was the star of the show for sure.

Rooms, scenery, onsen and food were absolutely amazing!
Only downside is the public transport system in the surrounding area which the ryokan has no control over.

The villa is incredibly cozy, and we absolutely loved the indoor onsen, which was perfectly heated. The complimentary champagne provided by the villa added a special touch to our honeymoon celebration. The breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and delicious.

Amazing hotel with brilliant facilities, including your own private onsen in your room. The food was delicious and the staff were all friendly, attentive and very helpful. The hotel is a bit far from the nearest bus stop, but the hotel provides a free lift to/from the nearest bus stop, which was very helpful. Overall, I really enjoyed the stay!
