The Japanese restaurant is great. Also the pastries in the lobby were very good. The room was large and comfortable.

The host is such a lovely person! Nice design if the hostel. It can get social in the common space so you might be able to meet people to do trips together. It was very very clean. It was by far the best overall hostel experience I had so far during my trip.

This is a great place to stay for when you want to have your own private quiet space (and a bit more space than a typical hotel room), but still want to be cared for by hotel-like staff. We landed on this place because I wanted to stay in a typical Ryokan, but my husband wanted his own bathroom. It was the best stay of our Japan trip out of 3 hotels that were all far above average. It feels very secluded and private, there are around 10 apartments in total and everyone has their own entrance. There's a coin washing machine as well. There is a small breakfast buffet with really great coffee and they provide some free snacks during the day as well I believe. All in all it feels really kind and caring.

Ideally located in the centre of Kyoto, Kokonoe Machiya offers air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge.

Toni the host was the the most friendly and cool dude I've met on my hostel adventures, he was great just to chat to but super helpful with advice and help with info about kyoto! The area is quiet which is nice and also close to everything you need.

agoThis is by far the best hotel i have ever stayed at. Beautiful hidden gem The room was spacious and having your own private onsen was amazing. The staff were very kind and helpful. Pros: - hotel looks so pretty and has that traditional Japanese style -Spacious room, clean and looks so neat. -arrival little sweets - you have all the stuff you need in this hotel including makeup removes, facial toners and serum. -private onsen. -beds are super comfortable -staff are helpful and friendly -able to send your luggage to your next destination - 15 mins walk from the station - there are cafes and familymart nearby. Thank you for having us. We had the best time staying at your hotel.

Amazing place, amazing people, service and kindness was beyond my expectations. I slept like a baby in the comfortable bed, after a good day of walking all around Tokyo, i was also immensely happy to enjoy my own spa bath :) the view is just amazing : i could watch the sunrise directly from the room. Wow ! What a great, big hotel room. Looked better in real life! We were sad to stay for only 1 night. No breakfast but very comfortable and convenient kitchen.
