Beautiful ryokan in a lovely little town. Staff were wonderful and facilities excellent - very comfortable and romantic stay in a traditional experience. Had a great time soaking in the hot pools under the stars in the forested area at night. Special experience with the mixed outdoor bath with the waterful in front, very pretty and made many happy memories. Thanks so much!

Excellent and friendly service from beginning to end. Room was very clean, the different baths were wonderful. It was the first time I’ve tried an onsen where I could stand up; it was 1.3m deep. There are private baths available too. Loved the welcome snack which was rice cookies using rice which the ryokan grows - I bought a bag home. The lack of hot water during winter didn’t bother me at all, in fact I prefer the warm water jug that was provided. The ryokan is near a bridge over the river for a good photo spot. It’s also near a restaurant with very good Akaushi beef. We had taken a bus to Kurokawa; the ryokan is fairly near the bus stop, though there is a long flight of steps down, which I managed to lug the luggage down. After check out, the staff offered to help with the luggage up the stairs to the bus stop.

Yamabiko Ryokan is genuinely one of the very best i've been to. They have many in-house private onsen which is lockable) to give more privacy which is a bonus. Their public onsen is just amazingly relaxing and scenic.
To top it off, both lunch & dinner are absolutely delicious with impeccable service.
Truly a memorable and unforgettable experience, as an ryokan should be.

During our three weeks in Japan it was suprising that best English was spoken here. All staff was kind and helpful. It's good to know that even though it says shared bathroom every room has their own toilet. And you don't really need a bathroom when you can enjoy the baths. You can even book a slot in a private bath. The location is convenient. You can easily go onsen-hopping from here. Food was also really good, we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast.

Had a little trouble finding the exact entrance area as the sun is setting and it was raining a little. Called the hotel and was addressed by a staff who could speak mandarin and it’s really wonderful cause we were in distress by then. He checked our location and came out to find us and lead us the right way to the hotel. Very polite and has provided us very excellent service throughout. Too bad we didn’t get his name but it was a young guy from guangdong, he really made our stay so enjoyable. Keep up the good work!

This stay was magical. The amenities were exceptional, and the house was extremely clean and relaxing.
The onsen bath was a really great way to relax. We ended up cancelling our plans so that we could spend the day relaxing at the house instead. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
The beds were so soft, and the quality of the bedding, toiletries, and the tea/coffee/ice cream/milk were really high!
The owner was exceptionally nice, and he has a restaurant that we went to for dinner. I have dietary requirements, and they went to a huge effort to source ingredients that I could eat and prepared a delicious and extremely well priced meal.
Everything about this stay was exceptional!
