I thought that I just booked a room! I found that breakfast and dinner buffet were included, along with coffee, tea, ice-cream, and snacks all day long, as well as free laundry facilities and bicycles. I had seen free laundry and snacks mentioned in other reviews and, frankly, I didn't really believe it! The laundry facilities were excellent and included detergent as well. The breakfast and dinner buffet options were substantial.
The room was also surprisingly nice with an excellent shower and toilet with bidet functions.
All around fabulous for the price - I would stay here again the next time I was in Hualien for a hike.

This hotel is located in a quiet residential area about a ten minute walk from the main station, with a stunning view of the mountains from the front of the property (ask for a room with a balcony for the best views!). The room was huge and spotlessly clean, and although we didn't use the facilities, there was a warm and welcoming dining space downstairs.
The staff went out of their way to make sure we had all the information we needed, using WhatsApp and Google Translate to communicate with us both before our arrival and during check-in - although we didn't expect this, it was hugely appreciated!

Reception staff's English is ok. They will ask you to choose your breakfast option the night before which cuts down on waiting time in the morning. However, any special request for breakfast might get lost between communications from reception to kitchen staff.

Great modern place, very clean, big room. Liked the design of the lobby very much :-) You can make a coffee or tea, take some free snacks. Staff was very friendly and helpful!

The hostel location was convenient and easy to reach, even without a car, it took 15min walking from the rear exit of the train station. The shampoo and body wash were from a nature local brand (ChaTzuTang). There was a nice noodle breakfast restaurant and a convenient store nearby. The host was very help on booking a taxi for us. Also, we were allowed to leave our luggages temporary after checking-out and going for hiking. The hostel has a lift, which was friendly for people with heavy or large luggages. It was a bonus to be able to use the washing machine for free.

A true gem in Hualien! Small hostel but with a big character made by the female owner, her sister and rest of the family & friends. Beautiful decor and facilities are great. Nice cafe running during the day at the reception; plenty of great food/breakfast options nearby and the train station walking distance! I also loved the fact that a bike rental place is next door (Giant bike store;))
The dorms also had a good amount of separate space for each individual.
