The rooms at the Beacon hotel are very large, especially for New York. The beds are very comfortable with the room furniture at the higher end. We absolutely loved our stay at the Y! The location couldn't be better and it was an easy walk to the subway and lots of other sights. I enjoyed a walk around Central Park every morning too. While the rooms are simple and comfortable (as expected), I really thought that the staff were extremely helpful and friendly (5* level) and the cleanliness of the building was top-notch!
