The breakfast was quite sufficient for my (limited) needs; the coffee was better than in many more expensive hotels. The location is the best in Waldsassen, opposite the main tourist sight, the Basilica. The public areas -- the dining room and the shaded patio-- have an old-world atmosphere, and a sense that they form part of the life of the town, not just of the guests. Although Waldsassen is admittedly somewhat of the beaten track, the price was very reasonable. Having told the staff, as an 80-year-old, that I'd need help taking my suitcase up the stairs, that was readily provided. The hostess went out of her way to help me with my difficulties with local transport. (If you don't have a car, it's wise to book taxis in advance, for instance to visit the wonderful circular pilgrimage church, the Kappl.)

The breakfast was excellent - lots of choices, generous amounts and good quality products. Our room was large, very comfortable, beautifully decorated, spotless and had a balcony looking out onto the fields. Host was very friendly and helpful. Really good value for money!

Perfect location as the work place was 2 minutes away. The food and beer were fabulous. The staff were really friendly and put up with us as we couldn’t speak German and they did their best on translating for us.
