The building is full of character and in a great location in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn. The village of La Malène is quiet and small but has everything you want. I recommend a boat trip with the Bataliers through the most picturesque part of the gorge, walking along the river track on the other side of the river and walking up to the chapel and Virgin statue that overlooks the town. The apartment has plenty of room and a well equipped kitchenette for making breakfast, lunch, and light meals. We also had a lovely meal in the on-site restaurant. The bakery a few doors up the side road sells fresh bread daily and stocks fruit, pastries, quiches (great for a light dinner), and a small selection of general items, regional specialities and wine.
