We could not speak more highly of Langass Lodge. The staff were exceptionally kind, particularly given my wife was not well when we arrived. The accommodation was excellent. The room was spacious, warm and clean. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious. The views from our bedroom windows were outstanding. We would highly recommend this lovely hotel. We also appreciated the fact that the carparking was actually on site and adjacent to our room where so many places which advertise carparking actually only offer public street parking, etc.

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed warmly and enthusiastically by Simon at the front desk, who honestly made this stay go from excellent to absolutely superb. He was extremely helpful with giving us ideas of where to visit on the island and how to get there, and where we could get some dinner, completely unprompted. All the staff I spoke with during our stay were wonderful and a credit to the hotel. The room was a great size, clean and comfortable, the wifi was good and the pancakes at breakfast hit the spot perfectly. A lovely little village, not near much but perfect for a quiet nights stay whilst exploring Uist.

Everything we needed was there. Well equipped and very comfortable.

If I tell you how extraordinary An Taigh Dubh is, you'll book it, and then we might not be able to again when we want to! But...here goes: from The Black House on Benbecula in late October we explored by car & ferry Berneray, Grimsay, North and South Uist, Eriskay, Barra & Vatersay - so it's perfectly located. But the treat is this: staying in a rare, beautifully, carefully renovated and updated, traditional, stone-tethered thatched-roof crofters cottage. It's a modernised hint of a traditional - hard - Hebridean life which is receding into history. Enjoy this: Chloe gave us a (very) welcome basket of milk, Coffee With Cause, Salar smoked salmon & Hebridean oatcakes; the outside light was on to guide us in under the unutterably dark, star-shot night; the heating was on; and the calm indoors is insulated by four foot thick walls and warm, dog-sensible wooden flooring. Arm yourself to explore with Rupert Marshall's A Guided Tour Of Uist [et al] (buy it from Ceann na h-Àirigh/Scandinavian Bakehouse on Grimsay, and eat while you're there), and retreat at the end of each day to your cosy cottage. Magic - out-of-season magic.

The location was perfect for the beach and country walks. The property itself was impeccable with no issues whatsoever. Although it was windy outside, the windows and insulation kept the property warm with no noise from outside. Couldn’t ask for anymore.
