Hemantha, the owner and manager of hotel and his son Dulana have built a truly beautiful pearl in the middle of the rainforest. With excellent English, they took care of us and fulfilled all our wishes. This is our fifth time in Sri Lanka, but we visited Kitulgala for the first time during our travels and I can recommend this area to everyone to visit. Waterfalls in the middle of the forest and rafting on the river are among the great experiences that this hotel offers you at a very fair price. And then you can let yourself be pampered in the comfort of the hotel with great food and enjoy a bath in the beautiful natural pool or right in the small clean river that flows around the hotel. We loved the location of Wanakaset Forest glamping right in the heart of the forest which afforded us amazing views of the hills from our balcony room. The food was plentiful and delicious and the ladies in the kitchen incredibly hospitable. We ventured out on a trek with Banda who was passionate and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area. We would highly recommend a stay in this forest sanctuary.

If there is paradise it must look like this. It is hard to reach (impossible by car, but duable by tuk tuk), but when you arrive.... look for yourself!

Our hostess Laura made us so very welcome, it was more like being invited to share someone’s home. An amazing authentic lunch was conjured up at very short notice in spite of us not having seen Laura’s message asking us if we needed any meals that day. This was followed later by an equally delicious and relaxing dinner. We enjoyed the pool with the beautiful view out to the mountains, and the spaciousness of our surroundings. But best of all was Laura’s hospitality and humour, she made our stay quite magical and we would love to have the opportunity to return.

The host was very supportive. Provided delicious meals with a wide variety. There are few natural pools nearby with easy and private access. The location has a nice view with a quiet surrounding. It's conveniently situated just 5 to 10 minutes away from Kitulgala, allowing easy access to all the adventurous activities this area has to offer. If you are a person who would love a homely stay by being closer to nature, this would be an ideal stay.

Absolutely loved it here. This is a rustic hotel on the very edge of a fast moving river (or it was in Nov), with amazing open views over the water and the wildlife. Truly relaxing, with lovely crafted wooden furniture, half decent wifi and a few beers for the evening. Food was excellent and very plentiful. Service was never intrusive, but always there if you needed anything. Our room had an open aspect (ie no glass in the windows, just a fine grill that can be opened or closed) so the sound and sight of the water could be experienced from your bed. Mosquito net was in place and we never got bitten by anything at all during our stay. Bathroom was clean and shower was hot ! They did some laundry for us too (extra cost). The management team here have great English and it was nice to chat to them. We had already booked a whitewater rafting session with another company, so I was surprised to see that the hotel has its own WWRafting company on site. Definitely give this a go when in Sri Lanka. I would absolutely stay here next time.
