I could honestly write a 10-page article in praise of Shanuo. Firstly, yes. It’s every bit as beautiful as the pictures would have you believe. (With that said, there’s no way to truly capture the beauty of this place through a camera lens. You just have to go there to see that for yourself). Surrounded by coconut trees and brightly coloured tropical flowers, the bungalows overlook the Indian Ocean - a morning dip is a must! My room was clean and comfortable and I was provided with everything I might need during my stay. Although Shanuo doesn’t have its own restaurant, I can honestly say this has no impact on your stay at all. The breakfasts are generous and Shanuo provides drinks and snacks (at a small fee) if you’re feeling peckish. There are several neighbouring properties along the beach with restaurants. I promise you won’t go hungry! Secondly, the staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful, and you’re guaranteed to be met with a friendly smile and an enthusiastic “Jambo” 100% of the time. If you need anything, you just need to look up and someone is there to assist. A big thank you to everyone at Shanuo, but especially to Na who brought my breakfast every morning and who I had lovely chats with, to Daniel who cut copious amounts of fresh aloe vera to tend my sun burn, and of course to the manager, Gillian, who is energetic, friendly and builds meaningful connections with her guests which she uses to tailor her travel tips especially to your needs. This team creates an atmosphere that truly makes you feel as though you’re ‘coming home’. There’s so much more that I could say, but anyone reading this will begin to think I’m exaggerating. I’m really not. Do yourself a favour and just book! I’ll certainly be coming back here on my next Zanzibar adventure.

What can I say, during our 3 weeks in Tansania this must have been the best place we have stayed at! The owner Anna and Ibra took so much care of the details, just great. The whole complex was renewed last year, so the bungalows and the pool area are basically brand new and in very good shape. You have a breathtaking view on the ocean from anywhere (pool, hammocks etc.), a perfect spot to relax. During low tide it is possible to swim to a sand bank directly in front of the hotel which brings out the great colors of the ocean even more. Be aware though that it's not a good spot to swim due to many rocks in the water, but that is typical for the east coast of Zanzibar. Also Paje is too far to walk (about 1 hour one way) which we were aware of before booking, so that did not bother us. I also want to mention the incredibly nice staff! Very helpful, friendly and always with a smile on their faces, we felt like home from the first second! All in all a definitive recommendation, we will be back!

First of all, the service by the staff is 100. They are very attentive to detail and always willing to go an extra mile to assist. The food? 10/10…the staff is very fluent in English which made communication very easy. They also have a generator incase of power outage which is very common in Zanzibar , 🥹so thoughtful of the property. The linen was very clean and the rooms are very well kept. My 5 yr old son had to walk to the chef and compliment him on his delicious pasta dish. I am definitely coming back.

Small, tranquillo, individual, clean, and friendly atmosphere. Waiters knew our names after arrival, the beach is beautiful white sand but tide-dependent. Free Wi-Fi is good, no TVs (which is refreshing). Nice idea to have dinner in different venues – restaurant at the beach, near the kitchen, at the beach on different days. Quality of food is good, prices are very reasonable. Bar with the best view for sundowner. Free paddle boards and one-person kayaks to rent. Mosquito nets over the bed. Nice balconies in each of the only 20 rooms. Clean pool and garden. Family games and books available. One spa therapist available. The rooms are clean, and free drinking water is available throughout the resort.

We loved the property it was absolutely worth the price! The staff were amazing, especially the chef who kindly prepared a last-minute dinner for us. A big thank you to Alice, who gave us a warm welcome and shared helpful info about places to visit. The manager was also very friendly and made us feel right at home. Big shoutout to the fantastic team — we hope to come back again!

Fantastic resort. Very luxurious and big. Great value for money!!! The food was amazing. I would highly reccommend this resort to anyone who wants to relax. The private pool is a fantastic feature. The beach is a short walking distance but is also private and not busy. Thank you Amani for a great stay! you guys rock! Thank you to Gloria who was an exceptional host.

We have nothing but praise for our stay at Qambani! Everyone was so charming and helpful, delivering a sterling service that matches the beauty of the property which is a little heaven nested away on the Eastern coast of Zanzibar. We had a lovely time!

Very calm hotel, close to the beach and sea, bar and r restaurant with amazing lights and helpfully people. Strongly recommend this place.
