We stayed in an authentic eco gîte (Banga). The gîte was built in the original way. On the grounds lots of information about how life used to be. Lovely private beach.

The Ibis hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main airport terminal in Mayotte, so absolutely no difficulty in finding the place. Check in went smoothly and reception kindly switched our room after a small mix up with room type. The bedroom was well appointed with a comfortable large bed, good a/c, and a fantastic shower with good pressure. The restaurant, situated adjacent to the hotel and the pool, had decent options for dinner and we opted for the daily special. The following morning we had a fantastic buffet breakfast with excellent choice of food. Thankfully there was no restriction on water use in the hotel, as the rest of the island is unfortunately struggling with water availability. Getting into town was easy. From the airport we grabbed a taxi and got to the ferry in about 10 minutes. Taxis are plentiful there and if you choose to wait, you can take a shared taxi for as little as 2euro a person. If you want a private taxi its possible to negotiate a flat rate.
