The view is amazing and the interior is cute and beautiful. I especially appreciate the fireplace, it made the whole house very warm and cozy. The warmness is especially important in houses in Japan - in almost half of my stats during the trip it was freezing cold with AC being of little help. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He helped us to get the luggage up the stairs, gave nice travel advice, it was really fun to talk to him. In the morning he helped us with the coffee machine and with the tea for my mother, I was really greatful. And of course the dog! The owner's dog Leo - fluffiest and cutest golden retriever also lives in his own room in the house. The owner took it out to interact with guests upon their request and Leo was such a good boy! Very calm and well-trained, I fully converted to a dog person now.

Room was very big, with nice onsen (one indoor tub and one outdoor on the terrace). Location is nice and quiet, with forest surrounding. Even if on a remote location, it was easy to find using navigation, and the road signs marking the property.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the public area. Private, traditional, clean. Perfect service. Fumoto Ryokan always cater to our needs even before our arrival. Most of their onsen are private rooms so it is very nice for small groups like us who appreciate getting our own space. One of the highlight would be the meals, loved everything they serve here, they also have selections of beers and other alcohol, try their local beers! They are also strategically located in the center of Kurokawa so it is easy to explore the town.

39 km from Mount Aso, Yamashinobu features a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in the Ota Onsen district of Minamioguni. The ryokan provides a spa experience, with its hot spring bath, public bath and open-air bath. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This was one of the highlights of our 37 day trip to Japan. Wonderful people run this ryokan. We liked the fact it was in a smaller village out of the main Onsen area of Kurokawa.

Magic place within the city that once you go in, you find a wonderful special place. The big wooden door are opened and you enter into the past. all is wood, Japanese style, very well decor and design. staff are amazing! they will do all they can to help, serve and welcome you. The room we had was in the main building, Japanese style, tatami area that was ready for teatime, heated, just perfect. There are public onsens and 2 privet ones. all seems very nice to enjoy them. we did not eat in house this time. We only had one night, and I would Easly be happy to stay more. we loved this wonderful place.

Located in the Kurokawa hot-spring area, Yamabiko Ryokan offers public indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and some rooms with mountain or river views. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public area and guests can request relaxing massages for an extra cost. JR Aso Train Station is a 1-hour drive away. Yamabiko Ryokan is genuinely one of the very best i've been to. They have many in-house private onsen which is lockable) to give more privacy which is a bonus. Their public onsen is just amazingly relaxing and scenic. To top it off, both lunch & dinner are absolutely delicious with impeccable service. Truly a memorable and unforgettable experience, as an ryokan should be.
