Steps from Udawalawe National Park, Kottawatta Village offers a peaceful and scenic getaway from the city and night camping. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. The on-site Rose Restaurant serves Western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. The hotel was our best stay in Sri Lanka. The village was so beautiful, nested inside a real jungle with monkeys, birds and lizards coming to the doors. The area had two swimming pools and a restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly. Our room was really beautiful and the bathroom outside was an interesting experience. It was a great value for money, the stay exceeded my expectations.

International and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are served by the chef on demand, at the main restaurant. Athgira River Camping offers a great outdoor dining experience as well as a barbecue dinner and cooking demonstrations. Real wild cocktails and a nice wine selection are available as well. The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

Barbecue dinner is provided around a campfire. Free WiFi is available in the public areas of the property. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. In particular, our guide Solomons made the safaris and nature walk so much fun and he was so knowledgeable. We appreciated the upgraded tent!

- Pre-dinner drinks around the campfire and wine during dinner This ecolodge was enjoyable for my children, husband and myself. The tents were roomy and had flushing toilets and warm showers. The dinners were elegant on white tablecloth under the stars. The safari guide and driver did an excellent job pointing out elephant herds, birds and crocodiles at this park. I recommend this lodge.
