Well situated half between the beach and the city center, Johnson homestay is a great family house with a nice garden. The rooms are clean and well furnished. Johnson is very welcoming and very committed to his guests. I particularly appreciated his advices for the ferries in the backwaters and I had a memorable experience. Even if I didn’t have the time to do his tour on village canoe cruise, the guests who did it were really satisfied. Wonderful stay !

This is the perfect stay if you are looking for time in nature and the backwaters. Room is comfortable, clean, and with AC - so you can relax perfectly in the room. The balcony is great too and offers direct view on the littler river. The host Lizza is kind and fun, always there to help, Plan trips, cook food for you. The whole house is so beautiful, so you will enjoy having breakfast/dinner on the long table in the Main hall. This place seems suitable for anyone: alone-traveller, backpackers, couples, familys with kids. They have a garden to hang out too! And best part: its only 10sec walk to the starting point of your boat trip (Lizza will arrange)! Then you can discover lakes, big rivers, small rivers and village life in the backwaters. Ask Lizza for a TukTuk (Autoriksha) drive through the little streets through this area, so you will see more small rivers with plants, more village life, rice plantages and local life :) This is the place to be! This was by far the most beautiful accomodation we had during our India trip and it was made even more special by Allwyn and Jency. Not to mention their five sweet dogs. Our host Pradeep was extremely kind and communicative. He really cared about us and checked we were happy with everything, also helping us to organise a taxi and a backwaters kayak tour, taking us to the bus stop himself. The highlight of the homestay was the incredible, plentiful Keralan food cooked by Pradeep’s mother-in-law, we couldn’t get enough of it. The home has a pretty garden and is also under 2 minutes walk to beautiful Marari beach. All this for extremely good value, thanks so much!
