The owner and the female staff is very welcoming and friendly. Owner took initiative in helping out, eg. offering extra towel, blanket, making guest green tea when he/she is staying at common room area, helping guest figuring out bus arrangements, turning up room temperature when guest is back to the guesthouse, offering a ride to Shirakawago village when it is raining. Owner can communicate English well. I also have a great time talking with the Japanese female staff (our conversation is combine of basic English and Japanese, it was fun). Location is nice too considering it is about 5 min walk to Hatogaya bus stop and 15-20min walk to Shirakawago village. Wifi is good too. One of the things I like is that there's a female toilet and a male toilet (gender-separated). Clean everywhere. Room (bunk bed) is good size and bed is comfortable. Comfortable common room area. I enjoyed my stay there very much.

Everything. The room was beautiful and comfortable, bathroom was perfectly clean and well equipped, the location was ideal and the best part were the hosts: they were extremely kind and friendly, they definitely made the whole stay a tremendous pleasure. They were kind enough to take me to the bus station and also delivered some objects I left behind to me by mail. They were gentle and respectful, and I'm very grateful for their treatment and attention. Good quality with a spacious common area and a well equipped kitchen. The host was friendly, welcoming, and clearly cared about his guesthouse to a high standard. We felt right at home and he cleared the snow from our car windows too which was very thoughtful.

The absolute loveliest stay I’ve had in Japan. What a delight the hosts are - Glenda is an absolute gem and the loveliest. She used to tour around Japan as a singer! If you’re lucky enough, you can get her to sing a bit for you. Her husband is an incredibly talented chef and cooked us a huge and wonderful dinner - probably the best food I’ve had in Japan. Strong recommend!

It was lovely up in the hills and easy to find. Get the bus from Shirakawago and enjoy the scenery! The host offered us tea on arrival and showed us around the place. Dinner was offered with vegetarians catered for at 1600 yen each and breakfast for 800 yen each. You make your own bed in the bunks, we went in January and had the whole room to ourselves was super cute and a great place to unwind and slow down during what can be a hectic travel itenrary
