Great location. Nicely tucked away from the road amongst the forest. Lots of birds including jungle fowl to watch from the patio. Walk in from the road via a pathway. They met us to help carry our bags. Dinner was traditional Sri Lankan curry - vegetarian or chicken. Followed by yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Plenty of food, not spicy and was yummy. Other options for dinner were fried rice or vegetable noodles. Breakfast was packed for us for the following day safari. 2 egg sandwiches, a banana, yoghurt and water. Sufficient for the half day. The best part is the very close lake and dirt road. We went for a walk with binoculars and saw deer, langurs, crocodile, hornbills and lots of other birds and lizards too. A much better, slower paced experience and one not to miss. We booked a half day tour with the host. In hindsight we would have booked a different tour. Pillows weren't overly comfortable but was OK for 1 night.

The best place we stayed at! The room was spacious and clean. Each room has its own terrace, and there’s also plenty of seating in the beautiful garden. Every morning, we had breakfast in the treehouse overlooking the lake. Gamini and his wife are such lovely hosts. He picked us up from the train station, organized a safari and an Ayurveda treatment for us, and took us on a tour to see Sigiriya/Pidurangala Rock and the temples in Dambulla. His wife prepared delicious dinners and breakfasts for us. They always made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel very welcome. The Wi-Fi was also good.

Our stay at Swan Lake Habarana was fantastic. Kalhara was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond—organizing a cultural evening, a great safari trip, and arranging tuk-tuks at fair prices. He helped with everything before, during, and after our stay. The guesthouse was clean, comfortable, and surrounded by nature. The breakfast was also very good! Highly recommended!

Booking at Oleena home stay you don't get an accommodation only. You get a perfect piece of Paradise and a great host. The owner Jeewa is ready to assist you and organize for you everything you might need - from transport, Ayurveda massage, safari, daily trips or ginger biscuits 😀 They have a lovely daughter Oleena and we hope she will be the second generation manager of the home stay. His lovely wife Masha cooked traditional food for dinner and we love it. The room is very big and clean, as well as the bathroom. You will have a lovely private terrace and spectacular quite mornings with birds songs. And, of course you will have a breakfast. The location is in the forest and it's perfect spot for those who want to escape main road and traffic noise, but it's only 10-15 min walk to it. There is some small markets around in case you need something, a Buddhist temple, nice restaurants and of course all Jeewa's support. And...they have a lovely dog Tarzan, who is protecting the area, very gentle with guests, so you are more than safe at this place. Thank you Jeewa, Masha, Oleena and Tarzan and see you soon 😊
