It's a very smart decision to stay at Desti Youth Hostel for my trip in Shanghai. While I was still comparing different hostels in Shanghai, I found out that Desti Shanghai had just opened. It's a chain youth hostel in China. I’ve stayed at their hostels in Chengdu, Xi’an and Hangzhou before! It was a truly pleasant experience. The hostel maintains excellent standards, with very comfortable mattresses and pillows. The common area features a retro-style design that’s really beautiful, and there’s also a great value coffee shop right at the entrance. I’d highly recommend it.

Had a comfortable stay in the hostel! It’s close to metro line 2, so it’s a good location to get around shanghai. Breakfast is included, which was nice. Staff was also very nice and beds are comfortable!

Very professional Western-style hostel with all the amenities you need. Internet was good, staff was helpful and friendly. Location is convenient, walking distance from the centre and The Bund, but metro is just minues away if you don't feel like walking. I liked the self-service restaurant right next door, catering mostly for workers from neaby construction sites: food is 17-20 yuan, beer 4 yuan, and you can smoke inside like locals do.

Dayin offers beds or private rooms. I liked my room because there was a window to let in fresh air, the shower cubicle is separate from the toilet and, best of all, the sink is outside of the shower & toilet, making it far more hygienic to fill a kettle. The staff were superb in giving directions in English, especially since I needed to attend Shanghai Hospital every day. The hostel is located near three metro stations!!
