I was so glad to get the chance to stay at Del Cielo. Tomas is an inspiring guy who is going to (and has done) amazing things for La Loma. The area feels like a home away from home, so incredibly safe, I got a bit lost one evening, and I was walked back to the hostel by locals. So kind. It's super easy to jump on the local buses and get to the metro, it's not far from all the places you want to go. Ubers learn something new everything time they go there, seeing it's a great place to live and stay and that people want to visit and stay in La Loma. The hostel itself is super friendly, and everyone is lovely. Lili, the kids, Tomas. When I was there, there was an empanada cooking class, and a barbecue where everyone got involved, and got to know each other. Lili gave me some salsa tips, and I learned about Call Me Mamá. What a great project. Each day I was there, there was a new piece of equipment added to the kitchen, a conscious effort to constantly improve. The View!!! Breathtaking, day and night!! Impossible to grow tired of. I think this hostel is going to grow in its success and popularity, and I wish it all the success possible. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS HOSTEL FOR AN AUTHENTIC Medellin experience. ❤️

This hostel is a hidden gem in Medellin. The place was so cheap that I did not expect much, but it really was fantastic. The staff were absolutely brilliant - Raul was the first person I met and he is a real gentleman; as is his son who also works on the premises. They were very patient with my bad Spanish and Irish accent. Desiree is the cleaner who is also a fantastic person, and clearly brilliant at her job as the place is also spotless. She also took care of my laundry and was just excellent in general. The night time staff were also great, and always greeted you with a smile even if you needed to enter the building after lights out. On that end, the place is extremely safe, too. Other things that struck me: There aren't actually that many beds in the building, so facilities such as the kitchen are generally available when you need them, and there is always space in the fridge. Small details, but it makes a difference. I decided to stay here after a lot of busy, extremely social hostels in Poblado, and it was the perfect antidote. It is quiet and definitely not a hostel for making dozens of friends, but that is exactly what I wanted. That is not to say that you can't meet people here; you certainly can, but it's not for big groups and there's obviously no bar, etc. The location is good - you're right beside a metro station, so if you do need to get into the hustle of Poblado (or wherever), you're likely only 30 mins away without having to pay for a taxi. For anyone interested in going to watch any football, this hostel is in an excellent location for the stadium, too. It's walking distance. I am returning to Medellin in a week or two, and I shall be staying here again!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
