It's hard to beat Ultra for its location, the quality of the rooms, clean bathrooms and the fully equipped kitchen. You'll need to read the post-booking email carefully to work out how to get in. The hostel is the 17th-storey duplex penthouse of the building fronted by the Sultanbey Turkish Restaurant. Go around the back of the building and use the speakerphone or call the reception. It's family run and especially handy if you need to do the passport registration/GBAO permit procedure as OVIR is a 1 minute walk away across the road. The owner is prepared to sort out the registration for you if you don't want the trouble - they charge a small mark-up over the official price but given the opaque pricing in the Ovir office if you go yourself, that might still be cheaper than DIY. One point to bear in mind is that this is more a homestay-guesthouse than a hostel and doesn't have the traveller vibe of somewhere like Green House Hostel since most people have private rooms - though there are some dorm beds and meeting other guests in the kitchen does happen... Overall it's hard to beat this place for value, quality private rooms if you're ok with sharing a bathroom.

I stayed here before and after my Pamir tour, and it's a very nice and quiet hostel. Before my tour, my room was completely full but afterwards it was rather empty, so it really depends on your timing. Beds are comfy, and the hostel is pretty clean. The common space is very large, and the furniture is comfortable. The small library is also a huge plus The location is a bit far from the city center compared to other hostels but all you need to do is take a bus which takes about 30 min (with walking included). Otherwise, there's a supermarket and restaurant in the same building that offers all you need. Btw, try shakorob and kurotob in the restaurant -- very tasty! Amriddin works in the mornings and afternoons and he is great and super helpful.

This hostel was very clean, and the staff were hospitable. They were also happy to call a taxi for me. It's about a 40-minute walk from the city center, but it's relatively easy to get there by bus or taxi.

Few words about Yellow Hostel Dushanbe... Location: Hostel is located just 1-2 minutes of walking distance from Hilton hotel and around 20-30 minutes of walking distance from Dushanbe International Airport. How to get to the hostel: There is a street opposite to Hilton hotel, between Impero Home and Isra Hotel in the corner of Aini street and N.Muhammad street. Just keep walking there and you will see Yellow Hostel on the right side. Restaurants, pharmacy, ATM, supermarkets, public transportation are around the hostel. My room: I was provided with clean and comfortable bed and towels on the second floor of the house. There was a wardrobe, an air conditioner and en-suite bathroom in the room. There is a living room on the first floor to chat with other travellers or have breakfast. Tajik style breakfast was very tasty. Watercooler/dispenser with bottled water was helpful to refill empty bottle as it was hot outside. Hostel owners are friendly and sweet people.

1. Omar and the family are great, very kind, and helpful and attentive. 2. The house with the big yard in between is great. Basically it's a traditional house with part of it converted into a hostel. 3. Dorm room with its own bathroom/toilet and especially a living room with couches along attached to the dorm is amazing and makes it feel spacious. 4. Breakfast was great and very filling. Prepared fresh. 5. Close to the airport, it's probably only 25 mins walk but I took a short bus ride as I had leftover Tajik money that I wanted to finish.

Great location for exploring Dushanbe. Almost new hostel. Nice and clean, with friendly host who organized excursion for us!

For very experienced and low cost backpackers. If you need to use facilities and lay down. Staff was very kind. Persian gentleman from reception very helpful, we were happy to receive coffee and tea when reached destination very tired and thirsty. Good internet.
