Some bedrooms have views across both the lake and the Langdale Pikes. This hostel offers private rooms with en-suite or allocated shared bathrooms..

Ambleside village is a 10-minute walk from the YHA hostel. It has a selection of quaint tea rooms, artisan shops and country pubs. The staff were caring and helpful in an agreeable and sincere manner. The location is magnificent, situated at the forefront of Lake Windermere. I had a beautiful view of the lake from my dorm room window. The Waterhead Bus Stop is just a 3-minute walk away. Despite not being located on the main high street in Ambleside, this distance adds to its tranquility."

The Beatrix Potter Gallery is located in nearby Hawkshead, and Lake Windermere is only a 10-minute drive from YHA Hawkshead. The lush greenery of Grizedale Forest is just outside the hostel, home to excellent mountain biking trails and a Go Ape! treetop adventure course. Everything was great. Clean and tidy. There was the most charming lady called Rebecca. So amazing and friendly and outstanding customer care. Alfie is also such a warm welcoming Scouser with a great character. There was another lady who had brown hair who worked on reception and breakfast, I think from Cheshire or somewhere. Unfortunately this lady was quite rude and abrupt. Made me not want to go up to reception when she was there. Not sure if she was having a bad day or a bad few days, but I reccomend she spend a day or two with the others and learn great customer care.
