Host Jan Carlos gave a very informative introduction to Ica with a free personalised map showing local places of interest, restaurants, supermarkets etc. The location was excellent - 5 minutes walk from the historic centre and restaurants yet not on a main road so much quieter than some hostels in Ica. A taxi to Huacachina is just 7.50 Soles and ive never stayed in such a clean hostel. Although there is no kitchen there is an area with microwave, cutlery and crockery within the rooftop bar / chill out area where you can bring your own beer and food to the large fridge provided. There is free water and the showers were hot and with good pressure. Jan Carlos definitely gets 5 stars for being the most friendly, helpful and kind host.

Desert Nights Hostel features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Ica. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen, a 24-hour front desk and organising tours for guests. I liked everything. The facility is beautiful, well cared and extremely clean. The dorms are spacious and furnished, as well as the toilets, there is a big garden with sofas, access to the nearby swimming pool for free, welcome drink and 10% discount on meals in partner restaurants. If this wasn't enough, the staff at the reception is extremely kind and helpful, they gave me recommendations for activities I wanted to do by myself, without selling me any tours. Considering how touristy Huacachina itslef is, this hostel really makes a difference and it was probably the best stay of my long trip. I would recommend it to everyone.

Amazing value for money, private room and en-suite with breakfast included for two nights. Easy 5/10 minute walk to the oasis or £1 tuk tuk which are super easy to get. Lovely food and lovely staff!
