The apartment is located right in the heart of Melk’s old town – between the impressive Melk Abbey, towering above the city, and the picturesque Danube River. The historic Fischergasse leads directly to the old riverside where the shipmasters once lived. Today, this is where cyclists set off on the famous Danube Cycle Path or where visitors enjoy a leisurely boat trip through the Wachau. Just a few steps away, you’ll find cozy cafés such as the popular Café Central or the Rathauskeller Café with its lovely garden terrace. For culinary highlights, I recommend Restaurant Zur Post or Koloman at Melk Abbey. And of course, no visit to the Wachau would be complete without a glass of regional wine – best enjoyed at one of the traditional wine taverns (Heurigen) in nearby Spitz or Weißenkirchen. For excursions, you can explore not only Melk Abbey, but also the Aggstein Castle Ruins, Göttweig Abbey, or take a trip to Krems and Dürnstein.
