Our rooms, the Cape, the Harbour and the Bay, are inspired by the beautiful features of Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia. Each room, including the guest lounge, features original artworks by contemporary Australian artists that we have collected since 1996. Please note that Skippers rooms are hotel rooms and the shared lounge has a kitchenette but does not include cooking facilities.
The beach, cafes, restaurants, pubs, distillery, gym and golf course are just meters from Skippers’ front door and further afield are numerous world-class outdoor experiences.
We will greet you on arrival or if for some reason we can't, self check in is via a key safe at the guest entrance. Check in is at 3pm and when you’re ready to travel, departure is by 11am.
Apollo Bay is a gorgeous coastal town, you feel a sense of wonderment as you descend from the Great Otway National Park or via the glorious Great Ocean Road. This is the place to submerge yourself in the clean crisp waters of the Southern Ocean. It’s the place to experience wild coastlines and explore rainforests full of waterfalls, ferns and crystal-clear streams.
The harbour is a key part of the town with an authentic fleet and fishing tour operators. Seafood is always on the town’s menus including at the Fishermans’ Co-op located overlooking the harbour.
Walk a section of the Great Ocean Walk or visit to the Cape Otway Lighthouse. If you want to see seals, the reef at Marengo is well worth exploring. Maits Rest is a fantastic short walk to do. The small village of Forrest, up the hill, is a mecca for mountain biking and the Forrest Brewery is the perfect place to end your ride.
Then at the end of the day, stroll into town from Skippers and enjoy the friendly bars, cafes and great restaurants.
