Experience the feeling of calm when you turn onto the winding private road that takes you to The Hide. Surrounded by forest, and set on the waterfront, the Hide provides an elegant refuge for couples. In a national park like setting and situated centrally, it is the perfect base for exploring popular Bruny Island. With so much to do on the property, as well as wider afield, we recommend a 2-3 night stay if you can fit it into your schedule.
I fell in love with the climate and wild beauty of Tasmania 35 years ago. I have lived on bruny for 20 plus. I love bushwalking, gardening and playing with clay. It is my hope to share a the experience of off grid living with guests to inspire their own horizons to include a vision of a simpler earthy life. John is the bruny baker and works form home wood firing sourdough to sell at the end of our road.
We live 150m up the road and will be readily contactable. We will respect your privacy and not make contact with you unless you request it.
We live on Bruny island which has a unique environment, tall forests, sandy beaches, world class surfing and multiple fabulous walking trails.
Our road is privately owned by the 3 families that live down it. We all live sustainably and off grid. Please note this road is gravel ..not suitable for very low slung sports cars.
Despite the popularity of Bruny Island you will feel secluded and remote once you enter the property at Sheepwashbay.
Our neighbour is a nurse so do not be alarmed by the occasional sight of an emergency vehicle on the road.
It is not possible to use public transport to visit us. You will need either a car or a bike and a lot of energy!
