Windsor House has been a bed and breakfast and a boarding house since 1890. It is one of the few original premises from the gold rush era still operating in Walhalla built with 90,000 hand made bricks.
Windsor House was the first site in Gippsland to grow grapes for the production of wine, made by Johannes Gloz, who migrated from Germany to Walhalla in the 1860's.
Windsor House is about to release newly refurbished rooms as of March 2021, therefore all rooms will share the main bathroom in the house, except for the Aberfeldy suite which has its own ensuite,
We are a licensed premises and as such, guests are not permitted to BYO alcohol.
We both grew up in Melbourne but now reside in Gippsland. It is a lovely part of regional Victoria. Mark is now retired from working in the timber industry and I am a retired secondary school teacher in art and work as a potter and glass artist.
We have 3 adult children and I suppose you call would call us empty nesters.
We enjoy renovating properties and gardening, visiting art galleries and travel, locally, across Australia and overseas.
Walhalla has a number of local attractions and activities available to visitors including the Walhalla Goldfields Railway, Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine, bush walking, and four wheel driving tracks.
It's a lovely and tranquil area of regional Victoria where you can come to relax and take in the scenery, or pan for gold in Stringers Creek. Come and see for yourself.
