Wollaston House is a truly special place. Located in the centre of town and Albany's historic precinct, it's charming, private, spacious and comes with a wealth of history.
Layout: Enter through the large, meandering and abundant cottage garden. There is off-street parking allocated in the paved area by the garden.
There is a modern kitchen area that will suit most travellers who wish to be self-contained, as well as a 6 seat dining area. The master bedroom, two bathrooms, sunroom, laundry and first living area are on the first floor, although as with many heritage homes, it’s sunken with 4-5 steps to access. The master bedroom is stunning, with large windows and a double door opening onto the gardens.
Upstairs, you will find another private bedroom. There is also a charming slanted-ceiling living area with comfortable leather couches, library, two single beds and a charming balcony with great views and glimpses of Princess Royal Harbour.
Please read 'About the Neighbourhood' before booking.
周辺エリアの情報
It’s a gentle, flat stroll to restaurants, cafés, boutique shopping, one of the country’s best farmers markets and the award winning museum.
Character: Built in the 1830s in the Victorian Regency style near Point King using bricks from the ballast of ships (we recommend seeing the Point King Lighthouse ruins during your trip), the property was dismantled and rebuilt at its current central location a decade later by Dr Henry Wollaston, the son of Rev John Wollaston who had a pioneering role at St John’s Church, an iconic, breath-taking building which is the oldest consecrated church in Western Australia.
Other things to note
Wollaston House is a unique place, over 174 years old and listed as a Category A+ Heritage Home. We love the property, and we are sure that you will love it too.
Wollaston House is a unique place, at 174 years old and listed as a Category A+ Heritage Home with many elements in original condition. We love the property, and we are sure that you will love it too.
However, it may not be appropriate for every traveller.
Please note that there are several sets of stairs, including a steep stair case that leads to three of the beds, the upstairs lounge and decking.
It is not appropriate for very small children or people with mobility issues.
There are two completely private bedrooms (King and Queen beds), plus to single beds in the second, upstairs living area leading to the balcony.
In the garden, like all located on the leafy slopes of Mount Melville, you might see some precious native, protected marsupials - bandicoots and quendas mostly. These are not rats! Think of them like Albany's quokkas (although not likely to be up for a selfie), they won't enter the house and are more scared of you then you are of them.
If you have any questions, please ask us! This is a truly special property, and we want to ensure that your stay is comfortable. Unfortunately we cannot issue refunds if you decide the accessibility is not appropriate.
