It is a modern castle of the 20th century, built in a medieval, majestic style unique to this region. Formerly a winery of Sekt (German sparkling wine), the castle was a direct supplier to the court of the Kaiser in 1912. It originally belonged to descendants of the Rothschild family. It is located near the Saar and Mosel rivers, in the oldest part of Germany, less than 30 km away from Trier. It is located in the wine region famous for its Riesling wines. It is 25 km from France and Luxembourg. A unique place, with quiet landscapes, close to historical landmarks. Also perfect for lovers of gastronomy and good wine. Surrounded by forests and nature, it is perfect to rest from the stress of the big cities. For children and family holidays, there are many activities nearby: bicycle routes, historical train, sommerbahn, zoo and many more! It has 7 bedrooms with 9 beds (1 king, 2 double and 6 single) for 14 guests. Additional beds can be made available on request. Large living-dining room with river and mountain views, library with sofa, terraces. Completely renovated separate kitchen. It is equipped with Miele appliances and has a large table. There's a washing and ironing room.
Serrig is a small, tranquil village with its own church, deli, and bakery. You can take walks along the Saar River or simply explore the vast forests around it. About 10 minutes’ walk uphill from the castle, there is an organic farm where you can buy organic food. It is surrounded by vineyards, with a mini-train for children to play on. 3km away is the town Saarburg, famous for its Fortress and Waterfall with a watermill museum. We offer paid cleaning services (19e/h), wine tastings with professional sommeliers, and can advise you on local excursions. With the reservation of the castle, you get a FREE tasting of 6 local wines max. 4 people (19e extra for each additional person).
