In the middle of beautiful pine forests there is a tiny house, an old farmplace. It has all the amenities you need for a peaceful retreat – silence, solitude, beautiful nature, a warm fireplace, sauna and starry nights. You can enjoy real Estonian farmlife - bring water from the well, make food on a woodheated stove and heat the sauna. And most importantly – work and worries can’t reach you here! There is no internet and the limited electricity is powered by the sun. Come and enjoy peace!
Nedsaja Metsamaja (which means foresthouse in Nedsaja village) is a good place for a couple, family or smaller group. It is perfect for 4 guests but there are sleeping places for a maximum of 6 people (one double bed, one sofabed and two mattresses) and the possibility to camp outside. You can enjoy woodheated sauna and freshen yourself in a pond. The house has solar power for lights and phone charging, a gas stove, kitchen equipment and all the basic essentials (towels, bed sheets, soap and toilet paper). Sauna is in the price.
It is a perfect place to stay for longer than one night and enjoy internet-free days, silence and nature. We are happy to offer you discounts when staying more than one night.
We live in the same village and are quick to answer any questions or concerns you may have. The village people are friendly and all the younger people speak good english. We look forward to welcoming you to our lovely village - whether you are looking to get away and enjoy all that small village life has to offer, or just find some solitude in nature, our little foresthouse has all that and more!
A shortice little walk away is a scenic little village with a swimming pond, village house and childrens playground where people come together on bigger holidays to celebrate.
From the village centre, the road takes you to the Mustoja landscape protection area of pine forests and hiking trails, where big roads and human settlement are left behind. The forests nearby are good for hiking and berry or mushroom picking. Under the forests of Nedsaja lies exciting history. Only 100 hundred years ago in this area were Estonian military training camps. When you go hiking you may find foundations of once glorious military houses or a shooting range over grown by nature.
The foresthouse is located in a very unique cultural region called Setomaa. It is known by its polyphonic singing tradition seto leelo (inscribed in UNESCO world heritage list), fascinating traditions, rich culture and beautiful nature. Seto people have managed to keep their culture, language and togetherness living on the edge of two worlds on the Estonian/Russian border.
To get to know more local culture, history and nature you could invite a local naturguide, accordionist and historian Toomas Valk.
