Almond Reef is a 'Casa Rural', the Spanish equivalent of a French "chambre d'hôte". It's a charming renovated old Spanish farmhouse in a tranquil rural location - the sunny valley of Cariatiz, nestled in the surrounding mountains, offering clean air, stunning countryside and hours of Southern Almerian sunshine.
Over 150 years old, Almond Reef has been lovingly restored. Charming and comfortable, all rooms have cosy farmhouse individuality. The majority retain their beamed ceilings, yet all have modern en-suites or adjacent bathrooms. On winter evenings, a welcoming log fire burns bright in the comfortable lounge.
Guests in the house have a shared kitchenette with tea/coffee making facilities, fridge and a microwave
The cottage (listed as 2 bed apartment) is disability friendly, and has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and lounge, and a separate entrance.
Exclusive to guests is the use of a B.B.Q; a large sun terrace; a small pool, and outdoor covered areas.
Breakfast and evening meals can be booked in advance, and other requests will be considered.
A comfortable lounge provides cool and shade in the summer and a fabulous log fire burns bright in the winter.

She has 3 adult children (don't live at home) and 7 grandchildren (at the moment).
She is a fabulous home cook and a true home maker, ready to offer a warm welcome to guests.
Diane is a fount of knowledge about the area, from best restaurants to booking trips, and entertainment spots for young and old alike.
She goes out of her way to ensure that all guests, be they families, gay couples, archeologists, house hunters or bikers, taking advantage of the amazing local scenery and events, have a fabulous stay.
She fell in love with the area, whose almond trees bear pretty pink or white flowers and produce some of the finest almonds in the World, giving Almond Reef its name. Indeed the unique ecology of the area means that olives, oranges, lemons and pomegranates, as well as carob and fig trees, abound.
Reef Cottage and Almond Reef are nestled side by side beneath the craggy foothills of an ancient coral reef, in the tranquil hamlet of Los Josefos, Cariatiz.
Ideally situated for beautiful long walks locally and along the coast, just a short drive away, the area boasts wonderful roads for both cycling and motorcycling. and for walks.
This is a great base for exploring the rich wildlife, birds and flora of eastern Andalucia, or for visiting the coast while remaining away from the crowds.
Many rare birds and flowers can be seen in the immediate vicinity, with diverse habitats to explore on easy day trips, including he only true desert in Europe at Tabernas,the high mountains of the Sierra Nevada and coastal salt lagoons, steppe and volcanic hills and flamingos of Cabo de Gata.
