Casa Lola is situated high up on the banks of the Rio Dulce in a stunning natural park. we are situated only 5 minutes from the timeless medieval city of Siguenza, and just over an hour from Madrid. We area true rural place of escape, where you can walk, cycle, watch the wildlife or simply sit back and relax with stunning views. We also operate culinary and cultural breaks all situated within Casa Lola and its surrounding area. The house itself has a large open plan living area with two open fires and a honesty bar made from an old plough. All rooms are en-suite and finished with a modern but rustic feel. We have a good size garden with out door seating for relaxing or eating, it has wonderful views of the canyon and river. The quaint village itself, is situated on the Don Quixote route and therefore steeped in history, it has two bar/restaurants, as well as having a castle ruin from the 12 century. Siguenza, the nearest town, has all modern amenities, aswell as many good restaurants, a castle, cathedral and gift shops selling local artesian goods. If you are after escapism or want to immerse into a Spanish experience then Casa Lola is the accommadation and location you're after.
My wife and are owners of a Spanish restaurant in England, however after 10 years, we decided to leave it in capable hands, to open Casa Lola. Truly our interests are food, culture and the outdoors...hence the location. We operate as a B&B, but also have many packages available including excursions, cookery classes and wine tasting.
Casa Lola is named after our daughter who is another reason why we came to Spain. The restaurant business back in England was keeping us from spending time with her and so now our work is our home, where we can see her more often
The surrounding area is a natural park, and is beautiful all year round. The walks and flora and fauna are special and change with the seasons. The village is set 1100 metres up on a small peak which is 230 million years old, it has a very good interpretation centre with a 360 viewpoint. The two restaurants serve local traditional food and drinks are busy most weekends, which makes Pelegrina, of only 25 inhabitants, grow in size quite considerably . The locals are very welcoming and are happy to talk about their village and local city, often giving advice and telling tales of the past.
The area has many outdoor activity centres wether it's for couples, families or large groups. They all range in price depending on activity but are very reasonable. Activities include hiking, horse riding, canoeing, hunting, archery, climbing, and even zip lining.
