周辺エリアの情報
Arucas is located 12 kilometres from the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, extending from the coast to the midlands, above 600 metres above sea level.
The urban centre of the town of Arucas has the designation of historic-artistic interest. The Parish Church of San Juan Bautista is a key architectural feature, sculpted entirely in Arucas stone by local master carvers. It dates back to 1909 and has beautiful glass windows by the French firm Maumejean et Frères, as well as works by the Canarian painter Cristóbal Hernández de Quintana and an extraordinary carving of the Recumbent Christ by the Arucas sculptor Manuel Ramos.
The façade of the church opens onto the Plaza de San Juan and very close to it is the unfinished neoclassical building of the Teatro Nuevo (1906). In the Plaza de la Constitución are the Casas Consistoriales (Town Hall) and the building of the old Municipal Market. The Casa de la Cultura, a traditional Canarian house from the 17th century, includes an interior patio with a balcony and a magnificent specimen of a dragon tree. This building houses the Departments of Historical Heritage and Citizen Participation and part of the Municipal Archives.
The Arehucas Rum Factory and Museum is considered one of the most emblematic buildings in the municipality, due to the tradition of this activity in the town. The Casa y Jardín de la Marquesa is also an interesting architectural and natural complex owned by the Marquise of Arucas. It was built in 1880 and is surrounded by spacious gardens in a romantic style.
Located very close to the historic quarter is Piedras la Cantera, one of the historic quarries of the municipality. It is open to the public for visits.
If you prefer to stroll around the natural surroundings of the town, visitors have the option of climbing the Montaña de Arucas, where it is possible to contemplate a beautiful panoramic view of the north of the island.Arucas also has rocky and sandy beaches, such as Playa de Bañaderos-El Puertillo
