We moved to France in 2014 with our two daughters who attend the local French school. It was a life changing decision for us. Our daughters had never learnt French and we hadn't spoken any since school days. Now our daughters are fluent and we are working on it! We bought La Roseraie as an up-and-running Chambres d'hotes and had our first guests on the day we moved in! We love our new life style and love sharing our home with our guests. We have begun to make changes, especially to the garden which had been neglected, but we have retained the historic feel to the house and have added our own furnishings and decorations to enhance this. We have travelled and lived in various parts of the world and have collected souvenirs and furnishings from our travels so the house as a very personal and eclectic style. We have also added to the animal population since we have moved here - we have sheep and lambs, hens, cats, a very large and friendly Pyrenean mountain dog, a peacock, rabbits and guinea pigs. We welcome our guests to feed and pet our animals and children love to do this. Helen also teaches yoga and runs twice-yearly yoga retreats here.

La Roseraie is an historic 1850s Charentais stone farmhouse full of character and charm with beautiful exposed oak beams, large fireplaces and wood floors. The spacious en-suite bedrooms, large lounges, terrace and sitting out areas, private grounds and swimming pool provide space and tranquillity for all our guests. It is located in the heart of the French countryside and we are a stone's throw away from La Vallee des Singes, (the valley of the monkeys), a wonderful place to visit where the monkeys live freely in natural surroundings. There is so much to do here - a range of local attractions, historic towns, traditional markets, sporting activities, free swimming in lakes and rivers . . . Or you can simply relax in our spacious gardens and enjoy peace and quiet. We are also well placed for a stopover en-route to the South of France.
