## The neighborhood
Located in the southern part of the Metropolis, Vénissieux is an industrial, cultural, and nature-oriented city offering visitors its diversity. Historically an agricultural town, Vénissieux industrialized in the early 20th century with the establishment of Berliet car factories. Today, Renault Trucks, the factory offers guided tours showcasing its industrial know-how.
A cultural and lively city, Vénissieux offers quality facilities such as the Lucie Aubrac media library and the Vénissieux theater, and hosts free summer events and concerts as part of the Fêtes Escales festival.
Vénissieux is also a sports city, organizing numerous events throughout the year. The area is bordered by the Grandes Terres plateau and the Parc de Parilly, inviting visitors to explore and discover.
EVENTS AND FESTIVITIES
Vénissieux hosts many cultural and sporting events throughout the year.
Markets take place in Vénissieux on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays mornings. There is also a Christmas market in December.
On July 14, Vénissieux celebrates Fêtes Escales with free concerts, a fireworks display, picnics, and entertainment.
In September, the Nuits Métisses festival offers vibrant entertainment.
La Foulée Vénissiane is a running event held every November with 21, 10, and 5-kilometer races.
On December 7, Vénissieux celebrates its solidarity festival, a prelude to the famous Lyon Festival of Lights, with lantern parades, entertainment, and the presence of Santa Clauses from the Secours Populaire.
