The cabin is located on our 62 acre farm, a perfect mixture of forest and prairie land which can be explored by our guests. The cabin is completely off grid, with a solar power system which can support lights in the cabin, a couple of charging points and a small appliance. We have a small camping fridge enough to keep the essentials cool. The toilet is a dry composting toilet and there is an external enclosed solar shower. A water filter is provided for clean drinking water. Come and meet the animals that help us with working the land, pigs, goats, sheep and chicken! All are very friendly! Or just sit on the deck to and listen to the birds (an amazing spot for birdwatchers, and stargazers alike) A barbeque and outside cooking facilities are provided to use on the cabin deck with everything you will need for a home cooked meal whilst watching the amazing sunset.

We moved to Busseroles around 2 years ago, and have been working on house renovations and starting our small homestead. We are aiming to be completely self sufficient and off grid in the coming years. We currently have one cabin ready to welcome guests but we have plans to build another this summer and open up the land for wild camping. There is still a lot of work to be done across the land, there’s always a project on the go! Whether it’s building fences, fixing the roof (a lifetime project I suspect!) or working on the large potager and orchard we are creating. That’s where you will find me most days! There will be a small farm shop onsite where you can purchase locally grown and sourced products from lettuces all the way through to meat for your barbeque.

We are perfectly situated to explore the Perigord Vert region. A short drive away from Piegut Pluviers which hosts the oldest market in the Dordogne every Wednesday. Restaurants and Bars can be found nearby and we will be happy to help with recommendations and reservations if required. The Lakes of St Estephe are 10 minutes from us which are a great spot for watersports, walks or just sunning yourself by the water. Brantome is a 40 minute drive and is described as the “Green Venice of Perigord” Discover the medieval abbey, walks along the Dronne through perfectly landscaped gardens and a busy market town. Well worth a visit. But if you’re looking for a tranquil break surrounded by beautiful countryside, forest walks and nature we welcome you to just hang out at Malègue and enjoy everything it has to offer.
