Our house is one of the most iconic houses as you enter the town of Kirkcudbright with a wooden verandah covered in pink roses in the spring and summer. Built in 1879 by John McVie, the first curator of The Stewartry Museum, the house has a huge garden which guests are welcome to use.
We have two rooms currently available - one in the house has two twin beds, which are large-size French antiques, and an ensuite bathroom. There are comfortable chairs in the room, lots of books on natural history and the countryside, and views to the garden at the front of the house. The room also has original art-work. There is a small fridge in the room, tea and coffee making facilities and we provide a complimentary continental breakfast in your room. This typically includes fruit, juice, cereals, yoghurts, rolls, biscuits etc. There is no television in the room and you are welcome to use our wi-fi to watch films or tv on your laptop or other device.
The Garden Room is a self-contained unit in the large back garden of our house, and has a separate entrance. There is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle and as above, a complimentary continental breakfast is provided. The Garden Room has an ensuite bathroom and a large table and desk. There is a double sofa bed which makes the space very versatile, as well as a single pull-out bed. There are lots of original paintings and artworks in this very relaxing space. The wi-fi reception in The Garden Room is not great, and there is a DAB radio as well as board games and books to read.
All towels and toiletries are provided during your stay.
