Glendale" is the anglicized version of the
The landscape of Glendale is a dramatic mix of rugged coastline, steep sea cliffs, and vast areas of moorland. The area is defined by its stunning views, with the sea on one side and the gentle slopes of hills like MacLeod's Tables to the south. The single-track roads wind through the crofting townships, where sheep and cattle roam freely, giving the area a timeless, rural feel. This is a place where you can truly escape the hustle and bustle
Proximity to Neist Point:
Your cottages are in an exceptional location, just two miles from the iconic Neist Point Lighthouse. This makes it incredibly convenient for guests to visit one of Skye's most famous landmarks. The walk to the lighthouse offers breathtaking views of the dramatic cliffs, and it's a prime spot for photographers, especially at sunset. The point is renowned for its spectacular golden-hour light and the panoramic views of the sea and coastline.
Wildlife and Nature:
The Glendale area is a haven for wildlife. The steep cliffs along the coast are home to thousands of seabirds, making it a fantastic spot for birdwatching. For marine life, the waters around Neist Point are considered one of the best places on Skye to see whales, dolphins, porpoises, and even basking sharks. You can also spot seals basking on the skerries in Loch Pooltiel and Loch Dunvegan at low tide, while otters can be seen fishing for sea urchins along the shore. The skies are home to majestic birds of prey,
Tranquility and the Night Sky:
Due to its isolated location, Glendale has very little light pollution. This makes it a perfect destination for stargazing, with the Milky Way often visible overhead on clear nights. During the winter months (October to March), this minimal light pollution creates an ideal environment for viewing the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), which can be a truly magical spectacle.
