Barn on the Wolds
Enjoy the natural beauty surrounding this historic getaway. A spacious, colorful two level, one bed converted Barn in a Conservation village. Peace, quiet and tranquility amongst the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. Explore the old big barn, the paddock, protected forest and our courtyard garden, all within the property. Wildlife, National bike trails, walking paths right outside the door; stately homes, National Parks and beaches not so far...
The Barn has vaulted ceilings still retaining its wooden beams. Originally built in 1802, though the rest of the Farm complex is much older than that. It is connected to the main farm house-West Croft, but has 2 of its own entrances and lots of privacy. Open Plan with massive vaulted rooms make for a great space; the mezzanine style bedroom upstairs opens up to the living room. The East side of the building is largely glass so the outdoor patio is a great place to catch that morning sun with a coffee. Bathroom is updated with an entrance downstairs to the side of the full-kitchen through a sliding barn door. Hot Shower, heated bathroom floor in winter, lighted mirror and skylight make this pleasurable start to the day
We love to host in this beautiful area; we both love walking on the coast, Yorkshire Dales or North York Moors National Park. Neil's family are from Yorkshire back to the 1700's. Bi is from the Southern Philippines and getting her hands around this relatively new scenery, culture and temperature!! In the Philippines we loved having people over and showing them around, places to go, how to best spend their valuable time-off. We do believe that if someone who visits an area doesn't know it, much time can be wasted if there is no-one to offer them an insight. We offer as much input to our guests as they want...or as little too. We understand some people require their privacy and that's OK with us.
Tibthorpe is a Conservation Village. This means limited development, building or changes are permitted. There is no street lighting in the area. It is a very peaceful and quiet. Our forest to the rear of the property is protected. This and the maintained pasture at the back of the property are for your use and private. We have adirondack chairs dotted around for your use along with 2 comfortable sun loungers in the pasture along with a firepit.
The area around us is a farming area with lots of small Towns and Villages. Most including Tibthorpe, dating back before the late1080's AD. There are national and regional bike trails outside the door (Yorkshire Wolds Way); lots of public footpaths through farmland and forests.
There are beaches within 30 mins drive: Fraisthorpe, Filey Brigg, Bempton Bird sanctuary, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough. Historic Estates and Grounds to wander; Sledmere House (10 mins), A Georgian Estate; Burton Agnes (15 mins) and a favorite Castle Howard (40 mins). Popular historic cities of York are 40 mins from here to Park and Ride; Beverley (20 mins)..known as a mini York, both Cities of which have lots of walking streets, cafes, restaurants and events
