Nathalie from Mauritius who speaks French, English, Mauritian Creole, Mandarin & Hakka arrived in Paris to study in the fashion industry in 1974. Whilst in Paris she met Hervé from Brittany who speaks French & English, we went around the world working in the catering industry for 16 years.
In August 1991, we finally opened our dream French seafood Restaurant called “The Lobster Pot” in Kennington, London. Nathalie was taking care of the front of the house while Hervé was the grumpy French chef in the kitchen, and this for 25 years. It was a fabulous adventure, but at the end of 2016, we realised that it was time to take care of ourselves, and with real sadness, we closed down our darling Lobster Pot.
25th of July 2019 was the day we visited Brixham, we fell in love with this town, that day was the beginning of our journey to acquire “Beacon House” and ultimately to run a small but lovely Bed & Breakfast. Hervé, originally from Brittany dream to live by the sea, Nathalie, originally from Mauritius was missing the seaside ambiance, we both worked in the hospitality industry for all our working life and when you get hooked with that kind of living, it is very difficult to stop!

At "Beacon House", it starts with the view ! We are 40m above the sea level, all the rooms have now a balcony overlooking the harbour and the marina with some amazing sea views. Our house used to belong to a smack owner (trawler owner) in 1873 - Original deeds could be seen indoor. The decoration is rustic and maritime. We cook a lovely and high quality breakfast, with a French touch. Bay view, our room on the top floor has a 3.5 balcony overlooking the harbour, Beacon Room has a balcony with very good view on to the harbour and marina, but hide an interesting story as it was used many years ago as a look out to avoid the taxman ! Harbour View room is very cute and has a balcony over looking the harbour and the marina. We have a private car park for you to use - with overnight electric charger facility (Type 1 & 2 - with a "granny cable".)
So many things to do in the area from sailing, fishing, walking on the south west path, cycling - using our own tandem bicycle to visit the town. The English Riviera has so much to offer, you'll never get bored !
Unfortunately, due to its elevated position in the Harbour Bowl our house is not really suitable for those who are physically impaired.
