A spacious, ground floor, self contained unit attached to a converted Methodist chapel close to the village of Garrigill in the remote North Pennines. It has parking, a private entrance and enclosed yard catching the evening sun. There is a well equipped kitchen with tea/coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower and the bedroom has a double bed with two single beds, these can also be accommodated in the living space on request. This is a quiet retreat for lone travellers, couples, families or friends
My partner Moz and I love the outdoors and love to get away in our converted camper with the dog. We appreciate real ale and good live music and the odd cold dip in a lake. We moved to a converted chapel in Garrigill over 3 years ago which is an ongoing outlet for Moz's creativity and design flair. Where possible we reuse and recycle wood and other "stuff" into beautiful and quirky creations.
We live just next door and if you need anything, one or both of us are usually available. Feel free to knock on the front door of the chapel or message and ask about our add on experiences offered from the chapel.
If you're keen to explore the area on foot then the quietly spectacular Ashgill Waterfall is less than an hours walk away. There are a number of attractions a car ride away and the hosts are available to talk to you about these. A number of maps and leaflets are also provided in the annexe. Please see our guide which continues to be updated about local recommendations for restaurants, pubs and cafes nearby.
However, the beauty of Alston Moor is it's seclusion, peace and quiet. You will therefore find the chapel a very quiet place to stay making it ideal for a retreat for writers or musicians or just people who want to get away from it all.
We can provide details for local taxi firms but the public transport is very limited in this area. It is usually a place to be visited by car or when passing through either by foot, car or bike.
