A bespoke new build property (2017) purposely designed for the B+B market with all bedrooms containing an en suite wet room.
We are best suited for couples who are exploring the island and using our establishment as a base.
Please note this is my home (the booking is not for the whole property) which means this property is in fact a 'Bed and Breakfast' and there is NO communal lounge, kitchen or cooking facilities. Anyone wishing these facilities will need to look for a 'Guest House', Hotel or self catering accommodation.
Due to local/ national staffing issues there is now only one local eatery serving food after 5pm on our peninsula (The Old Inn, Carbost - 3 miles away). Therefore we recommend you plan accordingly... as the 'Old Inn' does not take reservations. Arriving before 6.30pm should be fine, however, after this time there is no guarantee you will be served and it may be wise to make arrangements to eat elsewhere prior to arrival. We do not have a communal facility for eating "take-aways" at the Bed and Breakfast.
Please also note that we are only licensed for a maximum of two guests per room..... children are not allowed to share with parents.
All bedrooms have a smart tv, tea & coffee facilities and USB ports. The king size and double bedrooms are at the front of the house and have spectacular uninterrupted sea views and sunsets. The twin room at the rear has views over the garden and adjacent croft land.
The house is located on the shores of Loch Harport overlooking a small working harbour at Portnalong Pier. Guests are invited to use the picnic tables in the garden overlooking the shore where you can while away the hours watching the wildlife and local fishermen at work.
There is ample safe parking for guests.
Included in the room rate is a cold buffet breakfast of cereal, fruit, yogurt and fruit juice. A full cooked breakfast or hot filled rolls are also available for an additional charge. Fresh eggs from our own chickens.
Wayne extends a warm welcome to his home on the shores of Loch Harport. The house was build in 2017 and used for 5 years as a very successful Holiday Let. In 2023 I turned my back on the 'Rat Race' and moved to the island turning the house in to a B&B. I am an 23 yr service ex navy man with a passion for the sea.
On arrival I am always available to help plan your visit to the island giving as much 'local' info as possible. There is the possibility of joining me on my own boat for sightseeing and fishing trips (dependent on weather and prior notice given). Dolphins, seals and sea eagles can regularly be seen in the local area.
Situated on the Minginish peninsula, Bracadale House is ideally located for many of Skye's main tourist attractions.
Locally the House is just 3 miles from the village of Carbost, which is home to the famous Skye Whisky Talisker Distillery and has a well stocked shop, post office, medical centre, tea room and local Inn serving great food with regular live music sessions.
The capital town of Portree is 23 miles away and is well worth a visit with its pretty harbour and good choice of shops, pubs and cafes. Drive 8 miles south of the House (Aprox. 30 minutes) and you will arrive at the spectacular fairy pools. Nearby there are also the fabulous sandy beaches of Talisker Bay or Glenbrittle (which is situated at the foot of some of the best known paths into the Cuillin Mountain range) making it ideal for either a relaxing or energetic day out.
The popular Dunvegan Castle which can be reached in under an hour, ancestral home of MacLeod Clan in Skye is well worth a visit. There are various museums located on the island, including the Museum of Island Life at Kilmuir.
