Exmoor itself is one of England’s, largely undiscovered treasures. Deers Leap Retreat is the sort of place that once found, you want to visit time and time again. There are miles of walks through pretty villages with quaint tea shops and country pubs by rivers, ancient woodland, breathtaking views across open moorland of the majestic red deer and Exmoor ponies and some of the country’s most stunning coastal paths and beaches. Whatever the season, there are many activities to enjoy out in the open air, on and around the Moor: walking, riding, shooting, quad biking, golf, fishing, surfing, even safari! If however what you crave is a holiday of sheer pampering, then rest assured, you needn’t even leave the house!
Hi, my husband and I run a wedding venue and self-catering farmhouse on Exmoor in Devon. We have 4 children and a smallholding so we're always pretty busy. We try to get away for every child's birthday so that they get some special time away from our work which happily works out about every 3 months. We tend to stay in the UK so that we're not spending days travelling. We tend to look for places that offer the same standards and beauty that we're lucky enough to enjoy where we live and obviously, we understand the work people put into making their home/Let comfortable and welcoming so we really appreciate that. We're really lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and it's a pleasure to share that experience with the lovely guests who come and stay with us.
We are lucky enough to live completely surrounded by wildlife. It's very peaceful here with a plethora of birds to watch. However, we're also only 6 miles from the beautiful market town of Dulverton, which has lots of pubs, tea shops and boutiques as well as a baker, greengrocer and butcher. The famous Tarr Steps are only 4 miles from us, a beautiful walk across the moor or a sort drive. You'll need a car to stay on Exmoor as there is very little public transport. You can, however, book an Exmoor safari or see the moor from horseback.
