Nagshead Cottage is a cosy converted stone coach house nestled in the heart of the Forest of Dean. It’s perfectly placed for cyclists, dog walkers, runners and ramblers.
Located in the idyllic village of Parkend on an offshoot of the Colliers Trail that loops around the Forest, our charming cottage offers safe, family-friendly access to an incredible range of walks, running routes and trails for mountain biking and gravel cycling.
The cottage sleeps up to 5 guests in comfort (one bedroom has a double bed, the other has a double and a single) plus an additional two guests can stay if the sofa bed in the living room is unfolded. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher, a log burner, smart TV, broadband and space for both indoor and outdoor dining (Weber BBQ provided). All stays include a welcome basket of goodies, tea, coffee and milk. We provide blankets and hot water bottles for cosiness, and the bathroom has underfloor heating as well as a heated towel rail for maximum luxury.
We are dog lovers and dogs are welcome in the whole of the property – upstairs and downstairs – while the garden is fully secure. We also provide blankets, treats and bowls for your furry friends.
There are two dog-friendly pubs within easy walking distance of the cottage, as well as cafes in both the lovely village shop and the local bike shop, which also hires out a range of bikes for all ages (contact us in advance for a discount on bike hire!). If you’re bringing your own bikes, our Asgard steel bike shed offers secure storage and there’s a hose for washing muddy bikes and kit.
LGBT+ friendly, all welcome.
Hello, we’re Jenny and Matthew, and we’re delighted to welcome you to Nagshead Cottage.
We live just up the road from Parkend with our son and our Jack Russell Terrier. We’re proud to call the Forest of Dean home and as dog lovers and cyclists, we think there’s no better place in the UK. We hope you love it here as much as we do.
It’s an easy ride to the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre (Pedalabikeaway) as well as beauty spots including Mallards Pike lake and New Fancy View. Nature is right on the doorstep, with some of the UK’s only wild boar making regular appearances. There are also deer, free-roaming sheep, bats and a great variety of birdlife, while Nagshead Nature Reserve is just a short walk away.
