I enjoy meeting new people, hearing about their lives, always listening carefully to their interests and in some small way try to enhance each and every stay by: suggesting a walk, book to read or a café to visit or an activity to experience.
I am a Beekeeper and have been keeping Honey Bees for five years. In this time the Grove House Apiary has grown to seven hives.
I process all my own honey which simply means it is spun out from the comb, filtered and jarred – so my honey is as pure and as raw as the Grove House bees intended. Our artisan honey with unique bouquet is available for sale
Ideal for Steam Train Enthusiasts, Nature lovers, Astronomers, Artists, Cyclist & Walkers. Grove House, Levisham is next to the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway at Levisham Station.
From the Holiday Cottages you can see, hear, smell and feel the Steam Trains rubble into the station. It’s the crossing point on the line so locomotives wait, often blowing off steam with mighty force; coal on shovel is heard as the fire is stoked; Drivers with oily rags wipe down whilst, Signalmen and Guards chat, Visitors wait standing to be the first to herald the sound of whistles and echoing sound steam in this canyon valley. We are one of the best places in the UK to practice Astronomy, come see the ‘Milky Way’ or simply stargaze in wonderment. Newtondale Canyon carves through the moorland plateau, leaving a spectacular landscape of open heather moorland, wooded hillsides and lush wildflower meadows. The habitats encourage Birds to visit the garden and ponds. On walks listen out for the Curlews Turtle Doves and watch the skies for Merlin and Peregrines. In Summer there are Butterflies and Pollinators to be observed and in Autumn an array of Fungi can be explored on the Moor.
