The Old Jail Barber’s Shop is a cosy and modern holiday home located in the village of Seamer, a short distance from the centre of Scarborough. Fully refurbished in 2021, this former jail dating back to the 1700s also has plenty of history within its walls. Sleeping up to five guests across two bedrooms, The Old Jail Barber’s Shop is ideal for families or groups of friends looking for a coastal retreat or a countryside escape in North Yorkshire.

The village of Seamer is right on the edge of Scarborough, just a short 15-minute drive from the town centre. The Mayfield pub is a very short walk away from the property. Ideal for families, the pub shows Sky Sports and has a large beer garden, serves meals seven days a week, a large indoor soft play for kids and it's also dog friendly. The award winning Seamer Fisheries can also be found a short distance away from The Old Jail Barber's Shop.
In Seamer, you'll also find a large convenience store which is open daily from 7am until 9pm.
Packed with seaside charm, you’ll find plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes to discover as well as arcades and ice cream parlours in Scarborough.
There are a number of beaches for you to choose from. The popular South Bay is a sun trap and close to the hustle and bustle of the town centre. North Bay has been accredited with Blue Flag status meaning it’s one of the best beaches in Europe! Cayton Bay is the quietest of the three and boasts a sweeping bay with a rural feel. Lastly Cornelian Bay is the remotest and hardest to get to but it’s a hidden gem and often empty.
Ideal for all weathers, there are lots of indoor attractions in Scarborough for the whole family. Head to Sea Life Sanctuary to see seals, penguins, sharks, turtles and more or Scarborough Castle to explore its 3000 year history. If it’s outdoor fun you’re looking for, The Open Air Theatre is where you can see amazing bands, singers and comedians. There is also the Sky Trail Adventure and Peasholm Park nearby.
