A centrally located maisonette situated within the Cumbrian market town of Kendal. This 17th Century Grade II listed property still has many of its original features and is full of countryside charm. A great base to explore the Lake District, or simply relax in front of the fire on a rainy day. *Please note* because it is an older property, nothing is quite in a straight line - which we feel adds to its charm! - but please do be careful on the wooden floor upstairs as some of the floorboards are not flush and there are some small gaps. The Loft is within walking distance of Kendal high street and opposite a park by the river. It is easily accessible from the M6 or by train, and is a short (15min) drive to the beautiful Lake Windermere. Up to two dogs are welcome, but please keep them off the furniture. To make your stay easier, we provide a parking permit for 1 vehicle. This allows you to park in the council car park directly opposite The Loft as well as some other local car parks (see the information left). The permit will be left for you inside the property for arrival. Any additional vehicles will need to be pay & display, or alternatively we can provide information on other places to park for free in town. *Please ensure you return the parking permit when checking out as loss will incur a replacement charge* There will be information inside the property for more details on the house (red folder on the desk), amenities and places to visit, eat & drink locally (welcome book). There’s also a corner shop open 7am-10am for any extra amenities!
Myself and my partner George have grown up in Cumbria and can provide lots of information and advice on the local area and things to do. We live approximately 15mins away and are happy to drop by if you are unsure of how anything works, or just want to discuss your stay. Whilst we do work during the week, we will always aim to deal with any queries as quickly as possible.
There are plenty of local places to eat/drink or explore and The Loft is a great base if you are coming to visit the Lake District. There is information left for you in the property about some of our favourite places nearby or a short drive away, as well as maps to plan any walking routes. Whilst the Loft doesn't have a garden, it is directly opposite a park by the river for anyone bringing dogs. We are situated on a road, but Kirkland is easily accessible and in a quiet part of town.
