We were born in Stornoway and grew up on the island, It was only when we married that we began our adventure into the country life! Murdo’s family lived on the croft for generations, but as the old house had been vacant for a number of years, it needed extensive renovation. We decided we wanted to make it our home, so with the help of a friend in the building trade, Murdo set about building our new house and two years later we finally moved in. We’ve never regretted it – being 30 miles from the main town has it’s advantages! Murdo is now retired from his work in recycling, and I work from home, which gives us more time to enjoy our surroundings. We now want to share this beautiful place with you. As the pod sits on the same croft as our house, we are on hand should you wish to contact us for anything, to provide information or advice to ensure that you make the most of your time here. Our aim is to help you to enjoy and appreciate our surroundings. We’re on site to meet you and hand over your keys and to answer any questions you may have. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our pod.
Pairc, as the area of South Lochs is also known, consists of 10 small but beautiful villages each with it’s own character. Cromore is one of the few villages which has its own pier where a number of small local fishing boats work out of - including our own “Rhoda” – Murdo’s favourite pastime if weather permits! Many visiting yatchs anchor overnight or for shelter in adverse weather. We also have some local designated walks in the area with two of them right on your doorstep.
Also, for your convenience, there is a shop, café and post office located approximately 6 miles from the pod, selling a variety of groceries, newspapers, and gifts. They also provide a 24/7 fuel service and cycle hire, and also, out-with shop opening times, you can access a washing machine and tumble dryer for a small fee with washing powder supplied.
We are ideally situated to help you enjoy your holiday here in the Outer Hebrides, within an hours drive you can experience the stunning beauty of our beaches and the majestic Callanish Standing Stones, or participate in many sea treks to watch whales. You're spoilt for choice!
