Set in its own private grounds on the picturesque island of Kerrera, Walkers Retreat is a luxury self-catering pod with an adjoining private sauna. Surrounded by spectacular scenery and breathtaking sea views, the pod is the perfect getaway for people who appreciate beautiful scenery in a peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of mainland life. New for 2024, Walkers Retreat is a spacious open plan pod that will comfortably accommodate up to 2 guests who will have private access to the pod, sauna and surrounding garden. The pod is fully equipped with everything you need. There is an ensuite bathroom at the rear with walk in shower, toilet, sink and heated towel rail. There is a built in comfortable king sized bed to kick back on and doze while you gaze out the windows to beautiful views and listen to the local wildlife. Towels and linen are provided. A fully integrated and equipped Elthin Kitchen with built in oven, 2 ring ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle with tea and coffee making facilities. There is a breakfast bar for dining with 2 bar stools or a coffee/dining table in the living area with a comfy 2 seater leather sofa and 32 inch TV. The pod benefits from underfloor heating, instant hot water taps and Wifi throughout. Glass patio doors lead onto the private decking at the front of the pod. There is an outdoor seating area were you can relax and take in the spectacular sea views and scenery around you. There is outside lighting along the deck and to the adjoining private sauna pod. The sauna is a beautiful space with 2 wooden benches to sit or lie on and sweat it out whilst looking at sea views! There is a cold water outside rain shower next to the sauna or if you prefer take a quick dip in the sea directly in front of the pod . The bay is the perfect place for wild swimming.

Walkers retreat is located on the beautiful island of Kerrera. The island is situated only 650m away from the mainland so is easily accessible by a short 5-minute ferry journey. The ferry service operates from a slip at Gallanach Road, about 2 miles outside of Oban. Check out the Calmac website for the timetable. In summer they run a very regular service every half hour, slightly less so in winter. The last scheduled ferry is 6pm. YOU CANNOT DRIVE YOUR CAR TO THE ISLAND. THIS IS ISLAND POLICY. All guests must park at the Kerrera ferry slipway at Gallanach (its free to park). Once you arrive on Kerrera, we can come and pick you up in our island vehicle and take you and your luggage to the pod. If you would like to walk we will just pick up your luggage and drop it at the pod for you. Walking from the slip to the pod is a short 20 minute walk along the beautiful coast road and through our community woodland. The pod is perfect for anyone who loves remoteness and extraordinary scenery. Spend your days walking, cycling, wild swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, bird watching or simply chilling. The islands natural beauty and abundant wildlife make it a very popular tourist attraction. Once you are on the island it feels like you are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. The island is popular through the day with visitors visiting the beautiful ruined Gylen castle on the rugged southern coast and immersing themselves in the amazing wildlife. If your lucky you might spot our resident sea otter in the bay and the seals that have their colony a few hundred metres south of the bay. There is Tea garden at the south end of the island near Gylen Castle, a marina at the north end with a restaurant and bar, and then 2 small farm shops which sell their own meat & eggs. The busy holiday town of Oban is only a short 5 minute ferry ride away with its excellent seafood restaurants, shops and leisure centre.
