Commissioned by Sir James Matheson, its historic walls have harboured nobility, WW2 hospital patients, college students and school children, but now, after a dedicated restoration, has opened its doors to visitors from across the globe to enjoy and explore through a range of self catering apartments.

As part of the grand revival, the upper floors of Lews Castle are now home to a warren of palatial self-catering apartments and contemporary suites, each unique in character and offering a luxurious stay amongst the turrets and towers. Offering sweeping views of Stornoway harbour, sumptuous décor, authentic island details (think Harris Tweed and Hebridean prints) and exceptional bathrooms, there is nowhere finer to rest your head during your escape to the Outer Hebrides.
