If you are looking for a holiday where you can relax, unwind and recharge your batteries, in a location away from the madding crowds of the Lake District yet with easy access for your Lakeland fix, then North Lodge Retreat Allonby, often described as quiet, tranquil and peaceful, is the place for you. The apartment has an enviable position within the village of Allonby, located across the road from the sandy beach with uninterrupted views across the Solway Firth to Scotland. The grade 11 listed former almshouse is now a selection of houses, cottages and apartments furnished and equipped to a high standard to ensure your holiday is a memorable one. Relax in the cosy lounge and take in the breathtaking sea views, watch the tide coming and going, and as evening descends you can marvel at the amazing sunsets the area is renowned for, watch the sky set on fire with vibrant shades of red as the sun sets on the horizon. Meander across the road and take leisurely walks along the beach or enjoy a 'picnic with a view' on one of the many picnic tables along the coastal path. This truly is the perfect base to escape every day life and become one with nature, whether that be the rolling waves of the Solway Coast or the wildlife that make this area their home, you will be left feeling rejuvenated and longing to return year after year. The ground floor cottage has its own courtyard garden to the rear of the cottage perfect for catching the suns rays or enjoying your morning coffee. The cosy lounge has 2 large sofas in front of the electric fire, Smart TV and dining table for enjoying home cooked meals, the front facing views look out over the breath-taking sea views, witness the ebb and flow of the tide, and marvel at the stunning sunsets that grace the area.
Allonby is located on the Cumbrian Solway Coast offering a picturesque retreat with stunning natural beauty and rich wildlife. Known for its sandy dunes, shingle beaches, and diverse bird habitats the area is a must for those who enjoy spending time surrounded by nature. The coast of Allonby boasts breathtaking views, with Criffel Fell in Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland visible across the Solway Firth. On clear days, you may even catch a glimpse of the Isle of Man. The area is a haven for wildlife, with the dunes and beaches providing habitats for various bird species. Take leisurely walks along the long sandy beach or take the Cumbrian Coastal Way path which passes through the village, there are many benches along the way giving you the ‘best seat in the house’ for the amazing Solway sunsets, watch as the sky turns a vibrant red. The village has two pubs serving meals and local ales, Twentymans ice cream and convenience shop, café and a leisure centre with swimming pool. The western lakes of Crummock Water, Loweswater, Wast Water and Buttermere are a short drive away. The harbour town of Maryport with Indoor Go Karting, Climbing Wall, Aquarium and shops and cafes is 10 miles further down the coast. The market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth are within a half hour drive with shops, bars and restaurants.
